The Government of United Republic of Tanzania conducted 2nd International Tender Auction for rough Tanzanite from 9th – 12th February 2017. The Tender was held at Tanzania Gemmological Centre – TGC in Arusha Tanzania.

A total of 990,444.04 grams of rough Tanzanite was brought for sale by three Tanzanite mining companies; Tanzaniteone Mining Company Ltd, Mathias J Lyatuu Mining and Tanzanite Africa Ltd.

After tendering process a total of 957,327.28 grams of rough Tanzanite was sold for USD 4,157,242.13; this is equivalent to 97% of all rough Tanzanite tendered.

69 companies from seven countries including Tanzania, Kenya, India, Sri Lank, China, Switzerland and Germany attended the tender auction.
